Joanna van der Brug
I have been teaching German at all levels for over 20 years. I graduated in German philology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow with a focus on teaching German.
Krakow is my hometown, which I love very much and I enjoy being able to live and work here. In my life I have also spent several years abroad, living in Germany, Switzerland and Singapore.
During my professional life I have worked with many language schools and led language courses for them in international companies with a focus on business and financial language.
I worked for many years as a German lecturer at the Austrian Institute in Krakow and specialised in intensive courses that prepared students for language exams in a short time.
I currently teach at private high schools in Krakow, including Da Vinci’s International High School.
Foreign languages have always been present in my life and are my passion. Apart from German, I speak fluent English and Dutch, and a little Russian. Language remains a phenomenon that I find fascinating time and again, a tool with which we can express ourselves and understand other people, and good social skills are built on this.
I love being in contact with people from different countries.
In my teaching work, I emphasise the communicative aspect of language and cultural contexts are very important to me. I am constantly expanding my teaching skills, including by participating in training courses and various projects.
In my free time, I love travelling, reading, practising yoga, hiking, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
I am the mother of Nina (student of International Law in the Netherlands) and Jan (student of Informatics).
